My name is Kieran McCarthy and I am an Independent (non-party) Councillor in south-east Cork City. In the following blog pages, I will show you what my vision is for our community.

In my own view, a Cork City Councillor is one who represents our community at City Council and management level. What is important is that those elected individuals react to what is happening in our communities and try their best to build future opportunities. What do we need to survive, as individuals and with our families into the next five years? What will our community look like in five years time, ten years time?

These times call for action and change. A new generation of young community leaders can lay a strong foundation for the growth and transformation of our society. The challenges we face are real, however, together we can face our future confidently and with hope. A change is possible.

It is also important to mind ourselves in the times we live in but also not to become isolated. Everybody has a talent and it’s up to each one of us to develop these talents, to stand and fight, to push forward as best as possible in our lives through building strong family, friendship and community ties.

As an Independent voice I intend to make a difference in our community by listening to you, by reaching out to you and serving as best as I can as city councillor. Let us build our community together.
