Ward Funds
Ward Funding For Cllr. Kieran McCarthy
Requests for ward funding are now closed till January 2011.
Press Release: January 2010
Cllr. Kieran McCarthy is calling on any community groups in south east Cork City with an interest in sharing in his ward funding to apply for his funds. Cllr McCarthy has divided his 2010 call for his ward funds into two phases– a February call and a forthcoming September call. In the first phase, a total of E.8,000 is available to community groups through Cllr. Kieran McCarthy’s ward funds.
Application should be made via letter or email to Kieran at info@kieranmccarthy.ie by Friday 12 March 2010. The letter or email should give the name of the organisation, contact name, telephone number and what will the ward grant will be used for?
Very important notes:
(1) Cllr. McCarthy’s manifesto theme is Building Our Community Together. Ward funds will be prioritised to community groups who build community capacity, educate, build civic awareness and projects, which connect the young and old.
(2) Cllr. McCarthy is especially looking for proposals where the funding will be used to run a community event, providing educational initiatives and building new skill sets within an organisation. In particular Cllr McCarthy has an interest in heritage, arts and environmental projects within our community.
(3) Cllr McCarthy is also seeking to fund projects that give people new skill sets. That could include anything from part funding of coaching training for sports projects to groups interested in bringing enterprise programmes to encourage entrepreneurship to the ward. Cllr McCarthy is also particularly interested in funding community projects such as community concerts and those that promote the rich history and environment within the south east ward.
(4) Canvassing will disqualify the applicant group.
(5) Individuals cannot be awarded funds under City Council policies.
(6) A maximum of E.500 will be given to any particular group in one year.
(7) Cllr. McCarthy ward funds will be only spent in the south east ward with the exception that Cllr. McCarthy will be permitted to spend a maximum of E.500 on citywide groups/ organisations outside his ward if he so wishes.
(8) Paying orders can only be only be made out to organisations with a bank account.
(9) Please note that for transparency, the list of successful applicants and the purpose of the grants will be posted on Cllr. McCarthy’s website at www.kieranmccarthy.ie
(10) Cllr. McCarthy reserves all rights to provide or not provide funding depending on the applicant’s purpose for the ward grant. No correspondence will be entered into.
