Guerilla Days in Ireland

Posted by admin

Following its world premiere production last year, the sell-out show Guerilla Days in Ireland returns to the Everyman, with Tom Barry’s compelling first-hand account of the struggle for independence in Cork – the Rebel County : from Wednesday 8 to Saturday 25 August (excl Sun 12 & 19).

In 1949, Barry published his memoirs, in which he describes his Brigade’s exploits such as the ambushes at Kilmichael and Crossbarry, as well as numerous other lesser known actions, which were directed against the British Army, Black and Tans, the Auxiliary Division and the Royal Irish Constabulary. The play will detail Barry’s first-hand account of these struggles for independence, in his role as commander of the legendary West Cork Flying Column.
