Independent Cllr Kieran McCarthy urges creative community groups to take part in the Cork St Patrick’s Day Parade, which will take place at 1pm on Friday 17 March. The theme of the festival is Cork-A City of Community, Culture and Commerce. Festival organizers are urging community groups to think creatively and to interact with the theme. Applications for the Cork St Patrick’s Day Parade are available on www.corkstpatricksfestival.ie and the closing date for receipt of application forms is Monday 20 February, 2017. Presented by Cork City Council, the 2017 Cork St Patrick’s Festival will take place from Friday 17 March to Sunday 19 March and is expected to attract 80,000 visitors to Cork.

Cllr McCarthy noted: “The festival extravaganza will feature live music, entertainment, and the much-loved Cork St Patrick’s Day Parade which is attended annually by 50,000 spectators. Recent parades have always been a real celebration of the diversity of community groups and cultures who have made this city their home spectacular. Colour, creativity and character is ever present on the streets of Cork during the festival. The parade is an ideal opportunity to promote a community organisation to thousands of people”.
